At least 16 elements of the National Guard were retained by members of the self-defense group of the Union of Peoples and Organizations of the State of Guerrero (UPOEG), in the municipality of Tecoanapa in the Costa Chica region on Thursday.

The dissatisfied demand the governor of Guerrero, Héctor Astudillo Flores for the release of 10 community guards detained in the town of Xaltianguis in early November. The military remains held inside a house and, so far, no authority has set a position.

Official reports indicate that the retention of the National Guard elements occurred on Thursday afternoon. The action involved community and family guards of the 10 members of the self-defense prisoners in the Acapulco prison, accused of being part of a criminal group.
His relatives issued a statement explaining that community police officers were arrested on November 11 in the town of Xaltianguis, in Acapulco.
They say that the community guards of Tecoanapa moved to the rural area of ​​Acapulco to “rescue” Carmelo Marcelino Chino and Jaime Raquel Cecilio.
Both are originally from the community of Huamuchapa, but were kidnapped and taken to Xaltianguis; to date they are still missing.
“They are authentic police officers who were appointed by their community and who did their duty to defend our families,” said their relatives.
“The authorities are aware of the disappearance of Carmelo Marcelino and Jaime Raquel, but they have not done anything,” they added.
The UPOEG self-defense decided to retain 16 National Guard soldiers as a pressure measure to demand their release.
After the retention of 16 of its elements by a self – defense group in Tecoanapa, Guerrero , the National Guard (GN) confirmed that it will privilege a dialogue and negotiation at all times so that the conflict is resolved by institutional means.
Through an information card, the corporation announced that other of its elements are in that Guerrero municipality with a group of people belonging to the Union of Peoples and Organizations of the State of Guerrero (Upoeg) , in the region of the Costa Chica, who request a negotiations  table.

Members of that group on Thursday held 16 National Guard agents on the Tecoanapa-Chilpancingo federal highway, as a measure to demand the release of 10 of their fellow detainees last November 11 in Xaltianguis, Acapulco.
In this regard, the National Guard informed, in the card issued on its Twitter account, that these people request a table of negotiations in agreement with the Guerrero government in the case of the detention of members of their organization.
In August 2013, the same community guard in Tecoanapa retained more than a hundred soldiers, accused of being part of organized crime.
That fact marked a verbal confrontation between the indigenous leader of the UPOEG, Bruno Plácido Valerio, and government officials of Enrique Peña Nieto.
